My Guide To Tuning Up Your Car

Tuning up your car is very important since it will be one of the factors that will determine your car’s fuel mileage engine performance rideability and the car engine’s life. It should be done regularly to maintain your car’s excellent condition. Here are some pointers to consider when tuning up your car.

Proper Handling

A car with good handling should have stability when making turns and going around sharp corners. The rear tires should have just the right amount of grip to allow it to slide a bit during tight corners. This is crucial since a car with too much grip will make the car lose the right trajectory. Having little grip on the other hand will make the car slide too much which will cause a loss of control and a decrease in speed during acceleration. Some of the things that are related to a car’s handling are: the car’s specifications the style of driving center of gravity the total weight of the car and the car’s chassis among others.

Driving Style

Driving aggressively but with total control is the best style possible putting your car near its limit as long as possible and avoiding damage the car will be a great challenge. A driver’s consistency and smoothness are major concerns when tuning your car to racing standards. Being fast and out of control is useless. Being quick and in total control will greatly improve your time.

Tools to use

Here is a list of the tools that you will need when tuning the car: screwdrivers long nose pliers normal pliers visegrips electrical tape scissors wrenches and some specialized tools. If you have no time to do it yourself or if you have no idea how to do it then it is better to have the tuneup done by an expert mechanic since he will have access to all of the tools needed.

Some tips to getting a faster race time

First of all you must have fun. Don’t push yourself to the limit since this might entail an accident. Always keep in mind that there is always another time to improve your racing performance. Always be on the alert for any situation that may arise from the competition. Try to keep away from any dangerous situation.

These are just a few things to consider when planning tuning up your car. Keeping your car in good condition means savings fewer trips to the garage to change parts. Keep your cars running smoothly and you will not have any headaches.

Volvos New S60 To Compete With Bmw And Audi

Volvo is planning to further enhance its model range with a new S60 saloon. The new saloon will be matched with BMWs 3Series and Audis A4. Aside from a S60 saloon Volvo is also planning a new S40 hatchback which they plan of introducing in 2009 to 2010.

The new S60 Saloon will utilize the joint Ford/Volvo technology that supports the Mondeo and the S80.

It can be remembered that last year Volvo struggled in managing its overlapping of saloons namely the S40 S60 and S80. The problem faced by the Swedish carmaker was grave that it was near to squeezing out the S60 off the market completely.

Fortunately Volvo was not easily daunted and instead chooses to keep the S60 in its range to replace the current model hopefully in later part of 2009. The automaker also plans of replacing the S40 by 2010 instead of turning it into a fourdoor saloon it will be made into a fivedoor hatchback to compete with Audis A3 and BMW 1Series. The S40 name will also be changed to V30.

In addition since Volvo wants for its new S60 to compete with BMW 3Series and Audi A4 it has to expand its external dimensions since the two models from Germany have also increased their sizes to match that of the presently offered S60.

Volvos new S60 will sport a slightly longer wheelbase but to compete head on with the German pair the Swedish automaker would have to do more with the S60 and that includes giving it with a much better styling that would still accommodate useful car accessories such as Lebra car bra exceptional interior quality and of course an improved ride and handling.

It is no secret that finances in Ford is tight right now which means that Volvo engineers have to be more creative than usual on how they would come up with the needed chassis for the new S60.

The solution that they come up is to use engines derived from the VolvoFord parts bin. To compete with BMW and Audi Volvo engineers would employ a 2.0 liter fourcylinder diesel and a powerful 2.2 liter diesel. To compete with the two Germans sixcylinder diesels Volvo will use its D5 family of fivepot oil burners. The Swedish carmaker will also make use of a turbocharged petrol engine with a 1.6 liter capacity that can produce the same power as 2.0 liter petrol but with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

How Important Is The Hid Ballast For The Hid Conversion Kits Xenon Lights

HID Lights are getting more and more popular in the automotive industry you may also notice that there are a pair of hid bulbs and pair of ballasts for your hid conversion kits and how important is the ballast on the whole kit ?

To make it simple we need to know what is the HID light.
An HID light consists of a glass tube that contains tungsten electrodes gas and metals. You see light emit from the tube when an electrical arc is struck across the electrodes. The gas helps the light to start and once the metals are heated they function to produce the light. Gardeners enjoy the benefits of using these lights because they provide light that most closely resembles sunlight a definite plus when you are growing plants indoors without exposure to sunlight. They are also cost efficient because they last longer than other light bulbs and are more energy efficient.

Functions of the hid ballast
The ballast is used to start the lamp and to allow the electricity to continue flowing through the bulb to keep the light on. The ballasts function is to control the electrical current running through the glass bulb so that there is just enough current flowing through so that the light ignites and is maintained but not so much that the bulb is destroyed. Having said that it is clear that you must use a ballast when you want to run your HID lights in order to control the electrical current; otherwise they will not work properly.

There are three different types of ballasts that are used with high intensity discharge lights and they include magnetic ballasts electronic ballasts and digital ballasts. A magnetic ballast is also called a core and coil ballast which refers to the components inside the ballast. Along with a capacitor they work together to control the current to ignite the light and keep the energy flowing at exactly the correct rate for the bulb. Some magnetic ballasts also come with an igniter which are used in coordination with sodium and metal halide lamps. Electronic ballasts use electronic circuitry to control the electrical flow within the HID bulb. A digital ballast works on a higher frequency so it produces more light but uses less energy to do so. The digital aspect of the ballast allows it to function at consistently correct temperatures which helps the bulbs to last longer.
